2020: flydocs Year in Review

2020 has certainly been a year to remember, changing the face of the entire world, our industry as well as people’s daily lives. After such a whirlwind year, it’s always important to reflect on the journey and how far we have come to reach where we are today.

For flydocs, we navigated through a ‘Protect and Build’ journey where our initial priority was to act quickly, thoughtfully, and decisively to protect our business and our people.

We are privileged to be in a position where we are in in the rebuild phase, harnessing more collaboration, productivity and integrated business processes with our asset solution and industry partners.

Before welcoming the year 2021, which promises some exciting opportunities, let’s look back on all we accomplished together in 2020 despite COVID-19 and its impact on the aviation industry.

Asset Solution Partner of Choice

We continued shaping our company strategy to align it with our corporate objectives to help achieve our vision of becoming the Partner of Choice. We strengthened our position in the market by acquiring more asset solutions partners.

With the pressures of the pandemic, more airlines, lessors and MROs are leaning towards a more digital approach which increased the number of clients using the flydocs® platform to help them adapt as well as generate major cost and efficiency savings.

Early retirements and fleet reduction programmes became the norm this year and we were able to support 43 digitally-driven aircraft transitions with efficiency despite some of the travel restrictions.

Additionally, we launched new reporting capabilities to effectively mitigate financial risks and exposures associated with asset management so our partners can plan with accuracy and confidence going into 2021.

This year put a spotlight on more digital engagements and we continued to interact with our industry across social media, digital conferences as well as our own webinar sharing best practice innovations.

Industry Partner of Choice

There has never been a better time to strengthen our industry partnerships. Despite the challenging year, this hasn’t stopped flydocs from further improving and expanding our partnership portfolio. One of the most significant partnership this year was the launch of the MRO Blockchain Alliance which was officially launched in February and has since developed two proof-of-concepts of securely lifetime tracking and supporting the change of ownership of aircraft components by utilising blockchain technology.

Our partnership with Swiss-AS continued to yield results for the industry as our interface with leading M&E software solution AMOS went live for many of our clients, giving them a seamless data exchange.

Lastly, we further developed our relationship with the ATA three other strategic programmes helping to shape the future of the aviation industry. We recognise that our industry is thriving for efficiencies and digital adoption, which is why flydocs will always continue to invest significant resource into its mission of supporting what our clients and the industry requires.

People Partner of Choice

As always, a critical part of our success is our people. In 2020, we made steady progress on improving our people partnership, with engagement showing a steady increase as we rebuild our organisation. Employees are valuing the investment

leaders are making in 1:1 check-ins and having access to the learning management system (LMS) to manage and direct their development. We continued to prioritise employee wellbeing with continuous improvement to healthcare, working from home capability, and access to wellbeing resources, seminars, and workshops. The success of our business in 2020 was in part due to how our focus on OKRs and transitioning to customer centred teams enabled greater collaboration across functions.

Thank you to all our people, customers and partners for getting us through 2020. It has not been an easy year but we are grateful to be able to focus on the exciting opportunities ahead.

We wish everyone a wonderful festive break and a happy new year!
